[6] report — Finding it tough to uphold a daily regimen

Today might have been Sunday, typically a day off, but for me, it was the culmination of diving into English learning content.

As I reflect on the entire day, I realize I’ve practically spent over 14 hours on the youtube, with only minor breaks. I almost neglected my physical workouts.

I definitely need to cultivate self-discipline to better manage my daily schedule. Even when I’m immersed in a state of flow (which is important and necessary), I must still be aware that there are other important tasks for the day.

It’s crucial to strike a balance between immersion and responsibility. Tomorrow, I aim to approach my day with a more structured mindset, ensuring I achieve a productive equilibrium.

In the sentence “Today might have been Sunday,” the phrase “might have been” is used to express a hypothetical or speculative situation about the day. It implies that the day in question seems like it could have been a Sunday, but the speaker is not entirely certain or is suggesting an alternate perspective.

The sentence sets up a contrast between what might typically be expected on a Sunday—a day off—and what actually occurred for the speaker on that day, which was not a typical day of rest but rather a deep dive into English learning content.

So, the use of “might have been” here suggests that the day had some characteristics that are commonly associated with Sundays (like being a day off), but it was different for the speaker due to their focused engagement with English learning materials.
